It's spring in Florida! What could be better? I am sooooo happy that the warm weather has returned. I know that many of us Floridians were getting quite sick of the cold, rainy, nasty weather. With warm weather comes all those things we love... Shorts, tanks, swim suits, flip flops, ice cold beer on a really hot day and, of course, trips to the beach.
Ella and I went to St. Augustine Beach last week and it was wonderful! I love the beach life style... so laid back. It was truly a go-with-the-flow kind of weekend. I truly believe that salt air is good for your mind, body and soul. As soon as we start to cross the bridge my windows go down and my stress goes right out them. I love the sand on my feet as I'm walking lazily along the shore, the sound of the waves crashing, and the wind in my hair. And let's not forget about all the cool open-air beach bars. The ones you walk into barefoot with a tank thrown over your suit. I love those places and if they happen to be right on the water, well does is really get any better?
I can't wait to get back to the beach and I hope to see the faces of my friends while I'm there!

So here I am (finally) updating by blog. LOL! Yesterday we finally got our first real glimpse of spring! After many, many days (I believe it set a record) of cold, rainy, downright nasty weather, we finally got a beautiful FLORIDA day! Warm temps - shorts & tanks weather! I was in heaven... Sitting out back by my pool with a good book. Here's to many more days like that and, dare I say this early in the year, beach weather!

So far 2010 is looking like a pretty good year. In December I hit the big 40, but I have to say that I am liking it! February was awsome because my sister and baby nephew came down for a week from Philly to visit. I love being the aunt... LOL - no more babies for me! March marked the 26th Annual Rotary Club Wild Game Feast. I have been involved in cooking for about 7 years now and truly enjoy being a part of this fund-raiser. We had a great turn out and I was happy to see my friends that came out to support the cause and me. Last but not least, I purchased a new car. I got rid of the P.O.S. Ghetto Volvo and got a Toyota RAV 4. I'm really enjoying driving it and I think it suits my personality.

Hope you all enjoy the update, and I will try harder to post more often!

So for the few (very few) that read my blog, I want to apologize for not keeping up with it better. There has been a lot going on in my life lately and quite frankly I just forgot to report it all here.
February was an interesting (not neccisarily in a good way) month for me. I spent most of my time on my back either at home or in the hospital. This was due to a congenital blockage in my kidney. I ended up having two "procedures" and one surgery to correct the problem and so far everything is good. I am very thankful, especially after my ordeal, that I have been a pretty healthy girl my entire life. My doctors assures me that this should continue to be the case. Yeah!!!
So now we are into March, hoping that the cold weather is over and the warm weather will continue. This is such a pretty time of year when everything starts blooming and the days are getting longer. Summer will be just around the corner and I am excited about it. I love to come home after a long day at work, put on my swimsuit and jump in the pool. Spend a lazy day on the weekend in my lounge chair catching some rays and reading a book. I love wearing shorts and tanks and flops - oh my! My neighborhood becomes alive with music from different cultures wafting over my fence and the sound of my neighbors out and about. I love it!
So there you have it - for now. I will try to keep up with this blog in the future. Hope everyone has a Happy Spring!

So, the election is literally right around the corner and the political ads are flying. I've been listening to Rush Limbaugh more lately and he makes sense. Bottom line is that Obama is a socialist who is not interested in "cutting taxes" for the middle class, but more accurately doing what HE SAID and sharing the wealth. That's socialism, and it does not work. Yes we need some changes but what he is talking about is not a change. Its more government spending rather than less, more citizens dependent on government for their well being, and more judges willing to overlook the fact that someone has committed a crime if that someone is poor and therefore a victim of society's unfairness. This doesn't sound like change to me, just more of the same old rhetoric from the left. I have already voted (several weeks ago in fact) and I urge my fellow Republicans to do the same. Get out there and make your voice count!

Well it's the middle of October - starting to feel a bit like fall, and all I want to know is where did the year go??? Now don't get me wrong, the weather has definitely been nicer here in North Central Florida and it's Gator football season! Both things to get excited about, but I can't stand the idea that Christmas will be here before you know it and already businesses are putting up decorations. I think they should at least wait till after Thanksgiving to start making things look like a winter wonderland.
Call me a Grinch, but it really bugs me. I really hope that with the economy being what it is at the moment and people watching their pennies more closely, that we can maybe get back to what the holidays are really about. It's not about how much stuff you can buy, but spending time with family and friends and letting them know how much you care about them. Oh, I know there are spiritual reasons for the holidays, which vary depending on your choice of faith, but they all come back to being thankful for what you have and loving each other.
It's seems that all the holidays throughout the year have become more about retail and less about sentiment. I boycotted Valentine's day this year. I did get some complaints from my husband and daughter, but I held strong. I did not buy any cards or chocolates or anything else for that matter. I figured I don't need a day that is hyped by the retail markets to let the people in my life know how I feel about them. I may do it again next year too. I would rather my daughter be kind and respectful and loving year round than buy me something on Mother's Day. A simple "I love you" will suffice.

A first for everything...

So, this is my first attempt at blogging. Who came up with that word anyway??? I like the idea of having somewhere to put down my thoughts, to vent when I need to with no one to interupt, and finally to talk about things in my life without having to constantly explain myself. We'll see how it goes...
